Governance and Engangement
Good governance is key to sustainable development. The critical elements of good governance are sound political leadership, effective public policies and efficient public services. Lack of good governance creates legitimacy concerns and reduces public confidence in governance solutions through its offerings in leadership, services delivery, accountability and transparency, policy reforms and e-governance. Governance and community engagement are essential to facilitating prosperous and sustainable cities but can also become politicised.
The AMCs’ team examine how governance can be improved within the geographical context. It focusses on issues of accountability and transparency regarding government, industry and community partnerships. In particular, AMC explore new forms of community participation in decision-making about urban issues.
AMC obtain the data from existing and new data sources that are yet to be developed and used to provide information for decision-making. The scope is immense and covers areas such as research, planning, economic development, intelligent services, comprehensive asset management, targeted service delivery and more responsive community safety.
